What is life coaching?
A coach brings out the best in you!
Life is fast, sometimes you just don’t have the time to research and work on the things that matter most. There are a multitude of ways to improve your life and increase your chances of success as well as your over all well being. A life coach is dedicated to ensuring you have the best tools and advice to improve your life and feel fulfilled. A life coach digs deep inside and brings out the best in you.
Life coaches study life
Imagine for a moment spending over thirty hours a week studying how to ensure you attain a “life well lived”. Imagine learning all the little tricks that can help you succeed. Researching successful people and the paths they take to achieve success. In life there are clear paths to success, things that work and things that don’t. The trick is learning all these things, continually searching for the right answers and knowing also what does not work to ensure it is avoided.
Your life can be much better
Doctors study and learn how to cure you and keep you healthy, car mechanics study and learn how to fix and keep your car running at it’s very best, architects study how to design and plan buildings, computer programmers learn how to build software, chefs learn how to perfect cooking … the list goes on.
It is impossible to know everything about everything and if you are busy learning or working you are highly unlikely to have the time to study how to drastically improve your life. A life-coach is dedicated to knowing how to get the most out of life.
So: What does a life-coach do?
A life coach will generally start by getting to know you and understanding what will make YOUR life better. A great coach will ask you a lot of questions at first to get a good picture of what you want and need to get the most out of life. This phase may also involve some tools such as psychometric testing.
2. Mission – Set Goals
A great coach will work with you to setup goals and desired outcomes and changes that deliver great improvements to your life.
3. Strategy – Set a plan
Your life-coach will work with you to develop a plan of action that works around your existing commitments, limitations and obligations. Together you will find the best route to your success. Getting what you want in life requires effort and change but that does not mean it has to be painful, coaching is about getting you where you want to go in the fastest and most efficient way possible.
4. Check In – Maintain & Motivate
Getting a plan in place is for some people the easy part, sticking to it and monitoring it can be a problem sometimes. Your coach will help monitor and keep you on track. Depending on the goals and also the intensity of the coaching the follow up can be daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly etc. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve. The follow up can be done via email, quick chat, phone, in-person etc.
5. Evaluate results & adjust strategy
There is always room for improvement and it is safe to say that as an individual you will also get stronger and have more skills and tools in your arsenal as you go along. Change is constant and equipped with better tools, new information and presented with different opportunities over time it is important to continually evaluate and adjust to achieve the best results.
