What entrepreneurs said about starting their business.

My Basic Thought Was, “I Can Do This Better!” In 2000, I started a freelance writing business, writing for marketing agencies and news outlets including The Hollywood Reporter. In 2003, I took a full-time job with a marketing agency for which I had been freelancing. While there, I learned about marketing strategy – the art of supporting teams in gathering research and thinking about marketing before doing marketing. The firm was fraught with organizational issues, namely in having hired the wrong talent and retained bad employees. My basic thought was, I think I can do this better.

Wendy O’Donovan Phillips, Big Buzz Inc

A burning desire deep within me dictated that I had to work for myself. After a decade of putting others ahead of me, the beat of my inner drum got louder and louder to the point where I had to act on it.

Paul Strobel – ErideHero

Having worked at an ed-tech startup that grew 500% YoY then quit to start
my own business, I am confident that I know the struggle, the up and down,
and how to deal with it (mostly). You see I’m good at computers, laptops, and every tech-related stuff and I want to share my knowledge with others, that’s why I started my media business that has been going around for 2 years now, reaching people with same interests and helping them out, its pure passion.

Kenny Trinh, Netbook News

I was ready to be independent and create my work without the need to climb the corporate or agency ladder. Working for a long time as a marketer and writer, I gained enough knowledge and connections to try and apply my skills to my own business.
